The deep colur suggests dark fruits and they come through on nose and palate with dark cherry, damson and hints of coffee and chocolate. This youthful wine maintains its freshness with medium acidity and clean neat back palate.

A fairly deep golden colour indicates the southern origin of this wine. The nose is intensely aromatic with notes of citrus, melon, white peach and musk. The palate is dry yet fleshy and slightly oily with great balance, acidic freshness and a snappy finish. I used to eat a lot of 'Insalata di Polipo' (Salad of Octopus, Olive oil, garlic, parsley and lemon juice, delicious!) when I was studying in Sicily, this is a perfect match for this Sicilian delight!

I tasted this with some friends over home made Tagliatelle and sausage. The marriage was perfect. Nero d'Avola in my view struggles to be a very high quality wine and lacks the complexity and subtlety of some of Sicily's other varieties. But at this price it is superb! The nose is of intense plums and blackberries with mocha and leather undertones. On the palate the rich dark fruit does its job perfectly and the tannins and acidity are well balanced. The finish is unsophisticated but still spicy and good! This is lovely as an everyday wine for any meat dishes.

You will not find many 100% Ciliegiolo wines on the market but this wine certainly merits its creation. The bright vibrant purple colour entices the drinker and leads to a bubbly, lively nose of fresh cherry, raspberry and blueberry with notes of dried herbs and minerals. The palate is very fresh, youthful and prickly with the crunchy fruit balanced by elegant acidity and soft tannins. You could chill this wine happily in the summer to have with grilled lamb and good sausage with herbs. I drank it with cold 'affettato', spicy salami, olives and hard goat's cheese! This wine perhaps more then any other is quintessentially Mediterranean!

This is a big wine, rich and concentrated with that fantastic warm southern feel that typifies Primitvo. It has sweet tobacco scents and flavours of sour black cherry, plum and toffee. The finish is soft and warm with notes of toasted almond. It is perfect for tasty lamb cooked slowly with rosemary and gravy made from Primitivo!

The wine reveals a stunning vibrant deep ruby colour in the glass with a luscious rich viscosity. The nose is equally rich and enticing with red and black cherry and berry fruits and hints of warming spice. The palate is balanced and intense with a layer of rustic earthiness under the sumptuous fruit. A great wine showing that this region is perfectly suited to the Montepulciano variety!

This is a classically styled Gavi from a top producer whose passion and expertise is displayed in their wines. The delicate lemon colour leads to a complex nose of citrus, apples, pears, wild flowers, and aromatic herbs. The palate is fresh, mineral with an abundance of citrus fruit and a long complex finish. Lovely Gavi, a true example to be enjoyed with firm fish like Turbot or Monkfish!

The 6 hectares of vines that produce this champagne style Prosecco are totally organic and the clarity and frankness of the wine make it exceedingly drinkable. Aromas are of apple and acacia with an interesting mineral twist and subtle yeastiness. This is very high quality sparkling wine and easily a match for many Champagne!

He wine has an impressive dark purple hue with just a touch of terracotta on the rim revealing the first signs of development. The nose and palate are in their prime. Layers of dark brambly fruit, spice and cinnamon combine with subtle oak and an earthy undertone. The palate is exceptionally well structured. The black fruits of the forest continue from the nose and are joined by lovely warming alcohol, subtle tannins and fine acidity. This maybe wouldn't be the first to be picked up of the shelf but trust me, it is fabulous wine in every way. With steak or stew, fantastic, but also I would warm myself by the fire with a bottle of 'Morellone' on the go!

Ca la Bionda's flagship wine is a stylish and incredibly pure example of high quality, traditional Amarone from the superb Cru Ravazzol vineyard. The wine's graceful nose and palate of fresh and dried red fruits combined with sublime balance and power makes this 'amongst the best expressions of the type' (Gambero Rosso 2007). Fabulous Amarone.

Allegrini Amarone, one of the great wines of its type despite its now relatively large production and commercial success. It is a superbly well-structured, complex, elegant and velvety wine, with an intense ruby red colour. It has a warm and spicy bouquet, with an aroma of raisins, currant, prune, flowers and hints of cardamom. It is very full bodied and powerful on the palate where the fruit turns to fresh black currant, coating the firm tannins and giving a long, fresh finish of fruit and mineral. Superfresh and well-structured. It is delicious now, but would be best to wait until 2010.
Type: Dry full bodied red
Varietal: 80% Corvina Veronese, 15% Rondinella, 5% Oseleta
