Categories Dessert Wine![]() Dessert Wine
In Italy sweet wines are part of the culture. In the Valpolicella they have been drinking the bittersweet Recioto for over two millennia. In Piemonte after dinner cake is often served with a sweet but fresh, lightly frothing Moscato d'Asti and in the mountains of the north opulent, late harvest wines, often made from 'noble rot' have become a speciality with many top producers. Sweet wine is often overlooked and considered 'sickly'! But at the end of a good meal when the dry red is empty and the cheese needs some balance opening a bottle of rich, heady Recioto or nutty, honeyed Vin Santo is a true delight!
