Puglia makes some excellent entry level red wines that provide full body and a certain richness of palate at a fair affordable price. Negroamaro is tone of the varieties that achieves this admirably and in la Casada you find an excellent example. The Winery is based in the Salento peninsula and they manage to produce that distinctive bitter flavour with loads of fruit but without the burnt rubbery flavour that can sometimes manifest itself in the cheaper versions. An excellent wine for everyday drinking with Pasta and sausage or lentils, salamis and roasted peppers.

Tasting Note:  The deep colur suggests dark fruits and they come through on nose and palate with dark cherry, damson and hints of coffee and chocolate. This youthful wine maintains its freshness with medium acidity and clean neat back palate.
